Shift spur gears from the KNÖDLER modular system are applied wherever increasing torques are required in a large range of speeds. These drives are used in combination with direct-current motors or controlled 3-phase motors.

The main area of application for shift spur gears is winder drives, rolling mills and balancing machines.

Switching of the 2 to 4 stages occurs either manually or pneumatically at standstill.

Shift spur gears are advantageously combined with the modular systems of the shaft-mounted gear series FZ or the helical bevel gear series KS. It is possible to integrate the single stage model directly in the FZ or KS gear. This ensures that the shift spur gear and reduction gear functions are delivered in the most compact design possible.
